Governor

Governor Scott Walker (R)

Scott Walker

Gov. Walker supports expanding charter school options by removing enrollment and eligibility caps, and allowing charter schools access to empty school buildings. He successfully pushed for the expansion of Milwaukee’s voucher program to a second city, Racine, and has now said he supports significantly increasing participation in the 2-year-old statewide voucher program, particularly for low-income students. He also continues to support merit-based teacher pay programs and has recently signed a bill (Act 10) that allows for multiple routes to certification.
