Governor

Governor, Terry McAuliffe (D)

Terry McAuliffe

Gov. McAuliffe has stated that he wants to make charter schools widely available but has done very little to make that a reality. Gov. McAuliffe has vetoed multiple schools choice bills (HB 518 and HB 389). At an earlier stab at political life, McAuliffe endorsed the spread of charter schools and even “offer[ing] every parent a choice of public school to which to send his or her child.”  Now McAuliffe highlights on his campaign website a teacher-union member who talks of how McAuliffe will “protect our school system.”
