A staunch opponent of school choice, Mr. Cooper favors restrictions on charter schools. He is endorsed and heavily backed by the North Carolina Association of Educators a strong proponent of tenure systems.

Superintendent Summary

Johnson is a lawyer who currently serves on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school board. He has called for a decrease in testing, an increase in technology in the classroom and greater local control of education decisions. He has come out as a support of school choice and charter schools.
