Mississippi

Governor

Governor Phil Bryant (R)

Phil Bryant

During Phil Bryant’s tenure as governor, he has expanded charter school availability. Governor Bryant signed Senate Bill 2161 into law, which supports a modest expansion of charter schools in Mississippi as an effort to expand family choice in education. Bryant wants to expand the current scholarship program to more students. Governor Bryant continues to promote high teacher quality standards in Mississippi, and established a merit pay pilot program for teachers.
