Indiana

Governor

Eric Holocomb (R)

Current Superintendent:

Jennifer McCormick

Gubernatorial Summary

Holcomb has worked closely with previous governors of Indiana Mitch Daniels and Mike Pence whose stances on education innovation ensured wider school options being made available to Hoosier students. Holcomb seems to be following in their education footsteps having recently released his education plan which strongly supported charter schools, voucher programs and teacher quality.

Superintendent Summary

McCormick when asked about charter school expansion and more money put into the voucher programs McCormick said that she worked in public schools and knows that it becomes a money issue for them. However, she went on to say that she if a school doesn’t meet a child’s needs then parents should be able to choose a different school. McCormick has proposed to decouple tests from teacher evaluations saying that it should be a local decision.
