Governor

Governor Asa Hutchinson (R)

Asa Hutchinson

Republican Asa Hutchinson supports charter schools, citing as important elements charters provide as choices for parents, autonomy, and accountability. In 2015, Hutchinson signed into law a private school choice program (HB 1552) that provides special needs students enrolled in public schools the opportunity to receive scholarships to attend a private school of their parent’s choosing. We hope that by signing HB 1552 into law that Gov. Hutchinson has come to the realization that he never should have voted against the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program while he was in Congress. Gov. Hutchinson focuses on teacher quality policies on teaching training.
