Governor

Governor Bill Walker (I)

Bill Walker

Gov. Bill Walker believes the key to improving public education is “attracting and retaining the very best educators.” No mention of whether that includes merit pay and meaningful evaluations based upon student performance that is measured by valid assessments, though. He has stated his opposition to school vouchers and the state currently has no private school choice programs. Despite having one of the weaker charter school laws in the nation Walker has not made improving them a priority.
