 CER Salutes 53 of the Nation's Outstanding Charter Schools
Washington, DC, May 16, 2007 - Today The Center for Education Reform and families, educators, policy makers and community leaders salute the 2007 National Charter Schools of the Year, 53 schools from 24 states that exemplify the innovation, achievement and dedication of a charter school movement that has changed the face of American education.
The Washington, DC celebration commenced with a press briefing and luncheon at the National Press Club, including words of wisdom from national reporters Jay Mathews of The Washington Post and Greg Toppo of USA Today.
The Awards Ceremony was held at the The Capitol Building, where leaders of national and local groups, colleagues in the charter movement, and policy makers came together to salute the Awardees. Representatives from the 53 National Charter Schools of the Year were introduced and invited to say a few words about their successes, and then met with Congressional representatives and Senators.
