CER goes on a Capitol Hill Tour for National Charter Schools Week 2001 |

Charter Schools on Film: The Center for Education Reform sponsored a special viewing of "Charter Schools That Work" in the House Education Committee Hearing Room on Thursday, May 3. Congressional staff members were joined for a time by Rep. Bob Schaffer, who sends his own children to a charter school and who also founded two charters, and Rep. Tom Tancredo, sponsor of the National Charter Schools Week Congresional Resolution. Rep. Tancredo needed to leave early for another meeting, but noted: "This is where the action is - you've got the better meeting."

Odyssey Charter's odyssey to Capitol Hill: CER also helped organize Capitol Hill meetings for charter schools visiting Washington, among them this session between Senator Joseph Lieberman and 21 students from the Odyssey Charter School in Connecticut. Senator Lieberman has been an early, avid, and outspoken supporter of charter schools in the Senate.
