Arts-Based Schools
The curricular focus of Arts-Based Charter Schools is on the fine and performing arts. Generally, even instruction in the core subjects - math, English, science and social studies - is integrated into the study of the arts.
Core Knowledge Schools
Core Knowledge Charter Schools base at least 50% of their curricula on the Core Knowledge Sequence, which consists of specific content guidelines that provide a solid, coherent foundation of learning for students in the elementary and middle grades.
Montessori Schools
Embracing the pedagogy of Dr. Maria Montessori, Montessori Charter Schools focus on children learning "naturally" -- following their own interest and working at their own pace, guided by teachers.
Special Needs Schools
Special Needs Charter Schools target students with disabilities such as autism, deafness, blindness, ADHD, and other handicaps.
Virtual/Cyber Schools
Virtual/Cyber Schools are computer / internet-base schools which may offer one or multiple curricula or programs from which families can choose. They range from home-base schols to online learning in a traditional school environment. Cyber charters often offer programs beyond just computer-based instruction, such as field trips with teachers and other cyber charter students, and various extra-curricular programs.
Vocational Schools
Vocational Charter Schools offer an education that is career-oriented and job-based, providing technical training in specific fields such as health care, engineering, or various other skilled professions.
