What to ask your teacher about testing
Here are some ideas of what to ask your child's teacher about tests:
- Does the school test, and if so, which tests, and are they aligned to the state's standards?
- How will the teacher use your child's individual results to improve specific skills?
- How much will you as a parent be told about your child's test results?
- Are there things you can do at home with your child to help strengthen particular skills?
- How well did the other children in your child's class perform? What about the school as a whole? (See also Testing Websites: Report Cards for more resources on schools' testing performances.)
